debt before marriage

After being married and moving into a new home --TXU added to my bill a past balance from my one of wifes past residance ( before we were married). The account is in my name and was established prior to marrage.Am I responsable for her past debts before we were married.

Her portion of the community estate is liable for her debts. The problem is in sorting out that portion, so to all intents and purposes, she came with the debt and your married state is liable.
