my mother was served papers by Chase. She let a 5000.00 cc go and has not made payments in almost a year. The papers say she needs to be in court july 12, and she does not know what to do. Can they really do anything to her or make her pay it back? She need to know what to do now.

They can get a judgment for the balance owed, interest and costs and attorney fees. I would recommend an attorney to negotiate with them for a settlement amount.
If she has no assets and is judgment proof, then they will have nothing to execute the judgment on.
