Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Old Debt

In 1996 I opened a credit card with Bank One and got into financial difficulties and never paid the account now owing ~$6000 with interest.In 2004 Chase bought out Bank One.Yesterday I received a call from a collection agency saying they were filing a complaint against me in civil court.What can they do to me if this is legit and what options would I have? Bankruptcy?

Collectors must file a lawsuit when they say they are...if they don't it violates fair collection laws...but if they do answer...but your must swear to your answer and if no payment in last 4 years they are too late..call a lawyer for help
