Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

old debt

I purchased a vehicle in '88, it was repossesed in '91, and I made payments on the remaining amount for almost 10 years. The collection agency changed and I no longer had a mailing address. I didn't hear anything til '04 and again in 8/08, and have paid nothing either time. My Ch7 was discharged in 3/08, but it wasn't included. What can I do to stop the calls?

Re: old debt

If you have not paid in four years, it is barred by the statute of limitations. The statute of limitations for suit on a debt in Texas is 4 years. Send them a letter telling them to cease and desist from calling you.

Re: old debt

Tell the caller you will not pay and to stop calling or you will sue the collector and the creditor...BUT do not pay anything as it renews the debt..even though statute of limitations have run and you may not owe anything..
