Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
I have defaulted on a $2800 credit card balance with CitiBank. They are now suing me.
I have been unemployed for a year, my house was foreclosed upon, and I have no car. In addition to my own bank account, I have a joint account with my husband. How can I keep them from coming after either of these bank accounts?

They can come after the bank accounts only AFTER they have a judgment against you. They have to file the suit, get you served, and then get a written signed judgment. After that, if they know where you bank, they can garnish the bank account.
You should consider changing banks often - AFTER the judgment is granted.
