Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Defered Judification

When I was younger I went to jail and given deferred judification for a bounced check. I ended up taking the deferred judification, paid a fine, and parole. This is what happened when I was 18 I had a so called friend steal my checkbook and used a few checks that I did not know about. I received notice that there was a bounced check and I figured out who it was. I at the time denied and placed a forgery case. I was told by the courts that I had to pay because the signature looked like my writing. Being young and very naive I did what they told me to do. Several years later went buy and another check came out and I was placed in jail for a warrant I knew nothing about. The lawyer that the court appointed me said that I should take the deferred judification because it would not be on my record. Listening to the lawyer I did what he told me so that I would not have anymore problems. Now I am 30 years old and I have gone to apply for a job and they are telling me that I have something on my record that is holding me back in gettting a new position. I have heard there are ways to fix this, but I do not know where to start to get this fixed. I am older and a parent now and do not want this to hold me back because of this.

Re: Defered Judification

If the cases were out of Texas courts, you need an attorney in that county, or nearby county. If might not be possible to expunge the record, but you should be able to get it sealed.
