disability lawyer problems

3 years ago my husband recived disability. we hired a lawyer, but he didn't seem to be doing anything. we waited for him to bill us but never recieved a bill. it has been 3 years since we first recived our social security disabilty and he just sent us the bill for the full amount. we don't have anything to live on but my husband disabilty. what can this lawyer do? we don't own anything but a 94 station wagon.can he garnish my husbands check?

No he cannot. Call him and let him know that this is the first bill you have received. Explain your finances to him, and work out a payment plan. Send what you can, even if it only $10 a month, just be consistent.
