Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

what is a ''dismissal hearing''?

Can someone please explain what a dismissal hearing is? I cannot get to talk to anyone at the court. This is for a civil debt case, I am the defendant. I have been tracking my case online and see that the court has scheduled a ''dismissal hearing'' for May 19. What exactly does this mean? Will the court write to me? Do I have to attend? Thank you for your help.

Re: what is a ''dismissal hearing''?

It normally means the plaintiff(debt collector) has to give theCourt a reason why the case should not be dismissed for want of prosecution..No it is not a date for you to appear and I presume you answered in writing and if so, you should get written notice of when you have to appear..
