Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Divorced couple, car was repoed, who's responsible?

My husband divorced his 1st wife in dec. '03. Divorce decree said the wife was responsible for her car(he was co-signer). May 11 '05 my husband recieved a notice saying he was going to be sent to collections because car was turned in by ex wife(in Feb.) because she no longer wanted to pay for it. Chrysler sold the car, but a balanced of $6,000 remains. She told them she will not pay. Is there anything we can do about them going after us rather than her? He was never given a chance to maybe take over payments or anything. And was not notified of reposesion until there was nothing to be done but pay the balance. Please help.

About all he can do is sue her for the money he'll have to pay out. As cosigner he's as liable for the debt as she is.
