Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Doctor Bills that was waiting to see is dasability would pay

I was seeing a physician for problems with my feet in San Antonio Texas. I knew that I was owing around $2000. I moved to New Mexico informing physcians of my new address. I recieved one bill at said address which I paid. I did not recieve another bill, I called physcians and asked about billing. They informed me that if disability did not pay bill I would recieve additional billings. I never recieved another bill, I thought that disability must have paid bill. I recievied letter in mail almost 2 years later from collection agency saying that I owed $2100 and if not paid in 30 days it would be turned into a credit bureau. I called acency and askred why physicians had not informed me of amount due, and asked if they would let me pay $100 a month ( if disability hadn't paid I knew I owed The amount shown ($2100). My question is with the physicians knowing my address in New Mexico, why wasn't I informed that disability had not payed? If they had send me invoices I would have paid what was owed. After this length of time almost 2 years I figuared disability had paid. What recources do I have? I live on disability insurance and cant afford to pay $2100 in one lump sum

Let them know, in writing, exactly what your situation is, and what you could pay as an initial, good-faith payment.

If you can't work it out with them, they'll send it to a local lawyer. Negotiate with the lawyer the same way. Usually the lawyer will be more receptive than the bill collector.
