Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

My electric bill

i moved out of an address and called the electric company to cancel my account, they did not and charged me for 7 months when i did not live there, i have done all that i can to get the info they wanted and because i can not get the former landlord to compliy with thier request, they still are making me pay this bill, and i have asked them what else i can do and all they say is it is my responsibilty to prove i moved and did not live there, not thiers, so i want to know if there is anything i can do about this?
