Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I enrolled in school in 2005. The first week of school I decided this was not for me. I withdrew from school before the drop/add deadline. Now the school is charging me $1672.60 for the week I spent at school. Is this legal? I've been turned over to a collection agency. What can I do about this? Please advise. Thank you for your time.
