Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I am a federal employee and I owe a loan that I can't pay right now and I wanted to know was it against the law for them to call and harrass me on the job. I am not supposed to be getting outside calls and this is about to make me lose my job.

Each time someone calls, ask the caller to identify himself fully - full name. Also get the name and address of the company he fronts for. Tell him not to call you again, and then hang up. Don't engage him in conversation, and don't answer any questions. Hang up.

If he refuses to identify himself, hang up.

If he does identify himself, send a letter to the company itself (the collection company) telling them not to call you at work.

Keep records of the calls that come in - dates and times, and who called.

If you keep getting calls after you've demanded that they stop calling you at work, they have violated the Fair Debt Colleciton Practices Act.
