Federal Perkins Loan

I came home today to find an ''Alias Citation'' on my door which says I am being sued for a student loan 14 years ago (when I was 18!). I have not received any correspondence regarding this loan in the past years and did not even know this loan existed. What happens now that I'm being sued 14 years later for a $1500 loan that is now showing to total $7000?
