Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

fraud on the internet

I would like to know I would go about filling fraud charges on someone in a different State. This person has gotten away with over $500.00 due to not making nor shipping the supplies once they are paid. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Re: fraud on the internet

If the US postal service has been involved, you'd file charges of mail fraud with the Postal Inspector General. If you paid by credit card, you notify your card issuer that the purchased goods have not been delivered, and they reverse the charges as a disputed debt.

Unless you're willing to come to Texas to testify, filing a complaint with the office of the state's attorney general, or filing criminal charges with the local district attorney would be a waste of time and effort.

You can sue them in Texas. Depending upon the facts of the transaction, you may be able to sue them in your home state. You'd have to explain the facts to an attorney local to you to determine whether your courts may have jurisdiction over the bad actor.
