Ex Girlfriend Owes me Money

I let my ex girlfriend borrow $5000 over a 1 year period to pay for her apartment, car payment and school. We have been broken up for about 1 year now and I would like to get my money back. I have tried to contact her but she has since moved to CA and does not take calls or emails from me. Any advice on how to collect my money??

If it's not over $5,000.00 you can sue her in Small Claims. I'm assuming that you have nothing in writing evidencing the debt and an obligation to repay. Realize that she has the defense that the money was a gift.

Getting the judgment will probably be easier than collecting.
