Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Harrassment From Collection Agent
I have been receiving harrassing phone calls from a ''supposed'' Credit Collection Agency representing a former daycare my children went to. My fiance and I have been called names, threatened with going to jail, and told I have committed a crime, etc. I have REPEATEDLY asked these gentlemen to stop calling me at work, but they will not. I have resorted to taping every phone call and documenting every call/conversation. What steps do I need to take?

Very few lawyers accept these cases on contingency but you are owed actual damages for harassment, and statutory damages for violation of the fair debt collection laws of both
Texas and US....and costs and attorney fees...
Re: Harrassment From Collection Agent
You need to document your issues, meaning write a letter to the higher ups in the organization and make a list as to who called you and what they said. Send it via certified mail. If it persists, you may have to sue them for violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
