Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
I helped my son start a business by getting a credit card and adding him as a user.He hurt himself on the job and hasn't been able to pay the bill.I set up hardship on the credit card so that I could pay it until his medical treatment was over.I am already on disability and pay my car payments with that money now have Graves Disease and had to undergo treatment.I can't work enough to pay this credit card. What can I do legally to stop their constant harassment and or settle this account for good.

To stop them from calling: the next time they call, ask them for the address to write to stop the calls and note that the phone call is being recorded. Under the Fair Credit Collections Act, you are entitled to stop them calling by writing a letter to them demanding that they stop. If they don't give you the address, tell them you are going to report them and that any further phone calls will also be recorded. Of course, you probably won't be recording, unless you have a recording device to do so, but they won't know.
There is a lot more to this after they stop calling.
Correct..and u must write them ..say "Cease and desist all contact on this debt except in writing"....but u cannot stop written demands....we occassionally take on such cases for a modest fee...but dont consider bankruptcy..
