Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I hired a company called MoveX to move my house hold good accross the country last summer. I paid MoveX on the day of the move. Even my bill of laden says MoveX on it. I still have my last years bank statement showing payment in full to MoveX. Apparently MoveX subcontracted another moving company to do the move . MoveX went out of buisness and did not pay the company they subcontracted. I was unaware the move was subcontracted at all. The subcontract company has sent me a letter now saying that I am responsible to them for payment to them and that if I do not pay immediatly they will seek legal action. Can they do that and also can I sue them for wrongfull blame and all the anxiety this is causing?

As you have heard, anyone who has the money can sue..but in my opinion..you do not owe them and you cannot sue them for trying to collect from you....but if they do sue, your defense seems clear...anxiety from such claims is an ordinary event in life..
