Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
hold harmless agreement
I have a dentist who owes me a refund on a credita card for work not done. I stoped seeing him midway through a dental procedure and had the work finished by another dentist. I had prepaid on a credit card for the whole procedure as he required me to do so befor he would treat me. I put a stop payment on the bill with my credit card co. He sent them a letter promiseing to refund half of the bill if I paid in full. He explained that he was entilled to half of the payment as he had done half of the work. I paid the bill in full with the CC co., now he ows me a one half refund back to my Credit card. Now he will not pay me unless I sign a hold harmless agreement. He told me this will make sure I do not say bad things about him to people. Any suggestions? I have not seen this agreement yet.

Re: hold harmless agreement
It is a settlement agreement. You agree to waive your rights against him, and he against you. If the agreement is reasonable, it makes sense to sign it. It is also impossible to make that determination without reading the agreement.
