Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

My husband's wife (she passed away in 2005) incurred a large hospital bill in 1995 for back surgery. They had been paying on it a little each month since 1995 and since she passed away, he has continued to pay. Is there any way to get the hospital to write it off since it has been 15 years? What is the law concerning the liability I will have should my husband pass away before me? Am I liable for it even though I never met her? Our wilsl state our assets go to the surviving spouse.

No, you can't "get the hospital to write it off."

You are not liable for her debt.
