Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Identity Fraud
Someone in DeSoto Texas (my former wife)obtained a credit card in my name. I found out by reviewing my creit report. I reported it to the credit lender who will not do the diligence to help me correct it. Although the credit card company sent me a copy of the original application, I've unabled to get the copies of the invoices. The Police in DeSoto, TX told me I needed to prove via the invoices that the crime took place in their jurisdiction. Moreover, the copy of the application that was sent me clearly shows that this is not my writing and wasn't in Texas on 17 May 2000.The application has my date of birth, SS#, and a P.O. Box address that is not mine.I want my credit report cleared!

Re: Identity Fraud
Sometimes this takes a proper demand to the proper people at the credit card company. You may wish to read the Texas DTPA and the FCRA.
Credit card companies do not always do what they should.

Re: Identity Fraud
You may have to get an attorney involved at this point. Have you actually spoken to the fraud division of your credit card company? Are they cutting off the card as of now? If a strongly worded letter from an attorney does not work, sounds like you have grounds to file suit against the credit card company and your ex-wife both.
