Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Insert/Update of Old Debt

I have an old debt that has been charged/written off from the OC in 1999. However, the account was dropped off the credit report for about 6 months. But now the OC Insert/Update with same information but with new updated dates for ''Date of status'', ''Last reported'', and status comment as ''Account charged off/Never late. $3,829 written off...Charge off as Jan 2006''

I disputed with credit bureau and came back with ''verified/remains''.

Please help on what I can do! Is the OC violating the law, if yes, is there anything I can do to have them remove the negative reporting?

Thanks,

Re: Insert/Update of Old Debt

If you have not made any payments since 1999, or longer, the statute of limitations is your defense to any new asserted claims regarding this debt matter. This would be the basis for removing your negative marks on your credit reports. This can be fairly complicated to do on your own, but it can be done. However, if you would like prompt, affordable legal assistance in this matter, contact us directly for a free phone consultation.
