Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

IOU from Ex-husband

My ex-husband and I got divorced in Texas in 2001. At that time he gave me a promissory note to pay me what I contributed to the marriage. He stopped making regular payments in 2002 and has not payed anything since early 2003. The amount he still owes is over $10,000. What should I do to ensure payment of this debt? I currently live in Oregon.

Re: IOU from Ex-husband

You need to get a lawyer and sue him on the promissory note. That won't ensure payment, but it will put you in better position to get payment.
