Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Judgement or bankruptcy
I am about to be sued for a credit card debt of about 18000.00. My husband and I separated and I can't afford to pay all of the CC bills, the total debt is about 30000.00 on several cards, but only one has notified me of impending judgement. My question is, would it be better to file bankruptcy or let the CC company file suit. I have a home and 5 acres and vehicle, those are the only things of value I have. Please help!!

Re: Judgement or bankruptcy
Many of these credit cases can be successfully defended, especially if they are sold to a debt buyer or collection agency. And, they cannot notify you of "impending judgment." First, they have to file suit, serve you with the papers and give you an opportunity to defend. If you hire a consumer lawyer who is experienced in these cases, you have a fighting chance of prevailing.
