Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I had a judgement filed against me back in late 2006 or early 2007 and during the court date I was in a hospital and was not able to attend. So... I obviously lost the case. Since then I have been trying to talk to the company that sued be as well as the lawyers to get it resolved and figure out how to pay it or whatever. I have talked to many different people on many different occasions and they always say that they will call me back and never do. SO I call them back and they say, again, that they will call me back. I just dont know what to do about it and what my rights are.

I would guess that the reason no one calls you back is that you could have filed a paper with the court to let it know that you would not be able to attend because you were hospitalized. Since you did not do this, you have a much harder road to hoe. You need someone (an attorney) to sit down with and, first, get all the facts straight before anyone can hope to advise you properly. There are a number of things you can still do, but you'll have to ask yourself the question whether or not the attorney fees you'll have to pay are worth it for you.
