Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
judgement renewal
Does a creditor have to renew a judgement before the 10 years is up? If they sold the debt to a collection company, does the new creditor have a grace period for renewing the judgement or does a new judgement have to be filed?

Re: judgement renewal
The new creditor is bound by the date of the judgment. There's no grace period.
A judgment is renewed for ten years by the issuance of a writ of execution before the ten years has run, and that will renew it for another ten years, if the judgment hasn't been satisfied.
