Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Judgment enforceability

In 1999, I consented to a judgment against me in federal court in Houston. The creditor did not file an abstract of judgment and has not sought to collect. I have paid nothing on the judgment. I have not filed for bankruptcy. The judgment does not appear on my credit report. How long is the judgment enforceable or collectible ? I live in Texas.

Re: Judgment enforceability

A judgment is good for ten years. If a writ of execution is ordered at the end of ten years, that extends the judgment for another ten years. That can be repeated as often as necessary.
