Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Killed Pet

I had a pet(Rabbit) that liked to roam around my yard. Now, two big dogs came over on my land, and killed the rabbit, thus the neighbors were obligated to get a new fence. They later brought over a bill for the fence, plus a 100 dollar check. If we cash this check, can they find any legal ways to sue us to pay for half of their fence?

Re: Killed Pet

Mark on the memo portion of the check, "For killed pet". That shows it's compensation for damages and not associated with the cost of the fence.

They are responsible for keeping their animals secure. If they need a fence to do so, it's their fence at their cost.

Anyone can sue anybody for anything, so long as they have the filing fee. Making it stick is entirely another matter.
