What are the laws related to rental of furniture?

I am having a problem with a company that I rent a refrigator from. they are saying I did not make a payment I did and this has happened before. Now I refuse to re-make that payment and now they are threatening legal action what is it that they can do?

I have rented from them before and like this time when there is only a few months left on the agreement and the furniture is mine they pull this stunt. Please let me know my and their rights.
