Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Lawsuit

I received papers tonight that I was being sued in civil court for a debt that a company purchased from a cc co. that I quit paying. Am I bound to respond, or is this just another ploy to get me to pay the debt. Will a warrant be issued?

Re: Lawsuit

This is not a ploy, it is real. You can verify it by calling the clerk's office and determine if the lawsuit is a pending matter, and if it reflects that you have been served.

You will not be arrested for a credit card debt. You must respond to the lawsuit promptly, or they can take a default judgment against you.
