Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Lease Agreement Questions

I had a 54 month lease on an SUV through Mitsubishi Motors Credit Association and I end my lease early and paid everything as outlined in my agreement. I turned my car in 9/9/03 to a dealership, as I was told to do and I just received a bill for $547 for ''Excess Wear and Tear.'' I obtained a copy of this inspection (I was not present at this inspection) and the car was inspected on 12/04/03. They are charging me for dents in the car, that I know were not there and my car was in not in my possession for 3 months. Do I have a leg to stand on?

Re: Lease Agreement Questions

Not unless you can prove that the dings weren't there when you turned the vehicle in. Good photos or an impartial observer would be required.

For others reading this, this points up the importance of having an inspection done when you return the vehicle, and make sure you have a copy of that inspection report.
