Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Someone loaned me money with no contract
My husband & I had separted in the summer. He moved in with a friend & his wife.He was going to buy a truck, but needed money down,so his friends wife gave him 14,000.00 to put down on turck. He said he did not want the money but she ensisted. He bought the truck (in his name only). She gave him a cashers check made out to him. He said he told her he did not want the money but, only with no strings attached. He said he realized she wanted more so he left & moved back home, which we have worked everything out. The lady asked for the money back & he told her he did not have the money, because it went into the 2003 truck. He received a letter from a P.C. requesting the money or they would put a legal judgement against him. They had no contract & him name is the only one on the truck title. We don't have the money. Is there anything she can do to him in collecting this money. On the letter from the P.C. it does list the stuff he left in the house. Bible, books, some clothes and a few other things. The P.C. wants him to contact them to make arrangements to get the stuff back and to return the money. Please let us know what to do.He ensist that nothing happened between them & after he was there a few days he realized she was crazy.

Re: Someone loaned me money with no contract
She can sue your husband (and you, because it's a community debt) for her money. There are so many other non-legal factors that come into play that I cannot even suggest a possible course of action.
