Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Medical bills
I went into the emergency room. My health insurance paid 90%. I now owe 10% to the hospital. They want payment in full in 3-4 months or they will refer the bill to a collection agency. I cannot pay it that quickly, I need 6-12 months. They want my payroll check stub to prove that I cannot pay in 3-4 months. What is my legal right? I thought as long as I make a payment every month I cannot be referred to a collection agency?

Re: Medical bills
That's an urban myth. The only payment they must accept is payment in full. The agency will probably allow you to work a payout.
