Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

medical bills

My husband was still paying medical bills for his deceased wife, when he recently passed away. Am I liable for his deceased wife's medical bills? She died fifteen years prior to his death this March. Thus, these medical bills range between 15-20 years. I do have life insurance money from my husband's death, but not a large amount and I owe a good portion of it for his medical expenses.

Re: medical bills

Life insurance proceeds, if payable to you, not his estate, are not assets of his estate. Unless you have a legal and/or contractual obligation to pay those bills out of your own funds, then they are not your responsibility.
