Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

non payment of student loans

I received student loans from 1973 -1975. Payments have never been made. In 1982 I filed a chapter 13 which included the loans and later chapter 7 in 1989.

a collection agency is attempting to collect on these loans in 2007. I live in another state & don't remember the attorney who filed my BK's or know if they were discharged or not. Never showed up on my credit report as debts.

Am I liable to pay these loans?

Re: non payment of student loans

I don't believe government-backed student loans are dischargeable in bankruptcy. I don't believe they're barred by limitations, either.
