Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Non-Activated card with several fees attached

I applied for a credit card online. I was approved and was sent the card in the mail. I never signed anything. When I received the card the company tacked 172.00 in fees to the card. I never activated the card and now in month two the fees exceed 200.00! How in the world do I get out of paying all this and not get bad credit. I don't want the card, I've never used the card, and more so I've never ativated it. Thank You.

Re: Non-Activated card with several fees attached

I have absolutely no idea as to what you may have agreed to when you applied for the card online. Or, for that matter, what they may have sent you when they sent the credit card to you.

Ask that they reverse the charges and cancel the account. Then destroy the card so it can't be used.

Also consider filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission as to deceptive acts.

Chances are, the easiest way to get out from under is to ask them what it would cost to end the account, pay their fees, destroy the card (after confirming in writing that your account has been cancelled) and chalk it off to an expensive lesson.
