Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
notice of suit for debt collection and discovery
I have been served with a
discovery notice for a civil suit to collect a credit card debt.
a series of questions to be answered are included.
The legitamacy of the debt is true, however the amount is inflated and questionable. Please direct me on how to proceed. Date issued March 21st. Date receuved April 2nd.

The questions are usually a request for admissions, to see which facts are in dispute. Answer the questions as admitted, denied, or can neither admit nor deny because of lack of personal knowledge. Make sure you respond within the time stated.

If you are interested in defending yourself, I recommend hiring an attorney with experience in these kinds of cases. It is defensible because they usually don't have the necessary paperwork to prove their case. If you decide to represent yourself, which is risky, be sure to respond to the Requests for Admissions.
