Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
pada loans
I got a payday loan in texas and i got behind just on one payment and they sent me a letter in the mail stating that if i did not pay them $117 within ten days, that they would seek criminal charges by prosecuting it a a hot check. is that legal for them to do. i went on ahead a paid the $117. the payment was just $46 and i had never been behind on the payment before, and they were withdrawing from my checking account with my debit card number, not the check that i wrote which was just $246.they required that you provide both a debit card number and a check.

Re: pada loans
I doubt they could file criminal "hot check" charges in what is essentially a civil matter.
Get out from under as best you can, and avoid those people from here on out. They can legally extort what a loan shark would charge.
