Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

payday loan sources are calling me at work

I have payday loan sources from out of the state of texas calling me at work after I have stated that I cannot receive call at work and threating other co-workers. What can I do to get the calls to stop. There were demading the switchboard to give a description of me. She stated she would not do this over the phone and the collector repeated to her several times that she was not cooperating and that a federal complaint had been filed against me and they needed a description. The switchboard operator told her she would transfer the collecter to my supervisor. They did not respond to this and only continued to repeat the above statements. What can I do to get them to stop.

Re: payday loan sources are calling me at work

You have to write to them, by certified mail, telling them that you are not allowed to receive calls at work and that they are not to call you. Tell them that all further communications are to be in writing, and if they call you at work they will be in direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Keep a copy of the letter, the certified mail receipt, and the green return card, if it should become necessary to show that you gave them full warning about calling you.

If you request in writing that the collector cease calling, they need to comply or be in violation of the Fair Debt Collections Act. If that occurs, engage an attorney with competence in that area. Good luck.
