Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Paying a debt with a money order

My son has a debt that he needs to pay to a collection agency. He has made arrangements to pay the debt in three months each payment being due at the end of the month. He has told them that he would mail them a money order. They have told him that this would not be in his best interest and they want me, his mother, to provide them with three check numbers to take care of this debt. I have told them no that my son would send a money order, and they tell me that it would take to long for them to receive the funds from a money order. I do not want to take the responsibility of my son's debt as I feel he should be responsible for it, but he does not have a checking account or any credit cards. Money orders are his only way of payment. Can he be in trouble if he goes ahead and sends the money order each month?

Re: Paying a debt with a money order

Don't give them the check numbers. They will run them all through at once. They will accept the money orders if you send them.
