Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Paying a Medical Bill

I have been paying $10/month on a

medical bill from the local hospital.

They have been cashing my checks and

accepting payment for the past six

months. This past month, three days

after the cashed my check, they sent

my account to a collection agency. Is

this legal? If not, what can I do?
