Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Payroll garnishments for credit cards

A law firm has purchased an old credit card debt from 2001. They are threating payroll roll garnishment if I do not pay. Do they have the legal right to garnish wages for a charged off debt that they bought from another company?

Re: Payroll garnishments for credit cards

They can't garnishee your wages in Texas on a credit card debt. They can sue you if it's been less than four years since you defaulted on the card. Debt can, and frequently is, purchased. And it remains a valid debt.
