Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

phone calls from debt collectors

I sent a certified letter, receipt requested to an old debt which the sol has long pasted asking them to not call me at home and only in writing, I just got a letter from them telling me what I sent was not sufficient to process my request. They are wanting their acct. #, original acct #, my soc. sec. #, address. Do I need to send this all to them in order for them to stop the phone calls. The debt was in 99 and in Texas per you all the sol is 4 years, they call me names, are very rude and call late at night and I am very ill and want the phone calls stopped. A lawyer from their place even called me and called me stupid and said the sol was not 4 years where he was at. Please advise what to do

Thanks Kay

First of all, I don't think it was a lawyer that called you stupid. Most of us aren't that bad. ABSOLUTELY do not send them anything they are requesting. Just tell them you are going to file a lawsuit for their Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violations and tell them where the courthouse is. There are a bunch of lawyers on TV begging for your case. Watch daytime TV. Good Luck.
