Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Phone collections harrassement on the job

I have a collection company calling me at work. I have informed them that I cannot receive personal calls at work and that I could be fired for this. They ignore this. I want to evidentially take care of this bill but it is impossible at this time due to my husbands lost job and medical problem. I have absolutely no extra funds at this time. I am barely keeping food on the table and a roof over our heads. If I get fired because of these people no one will benefit. I own nothing of value that I could even sell. What are my rights to keep them from calling me at work?

Re: Phone collections harrassement on the job

You have to write to them, certified mail, return receipt requested, instructing them to not call you at work. You can also state that you dispute the debt, and that all further communications are to be in writing only.

That will stop the calls, otherwise they are in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Acts, both state and federal.
