Pre-existing Debt & Marriage

When an individual gets married with pre-existing debt, does the person they are getting married to automatically inherit the debt & become just as legally responsible for the debt as their spouse, regardless if it were pre-existing or not?

No. It remains the sole and separate debt of the person who incurred the debt.
