Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Proceeds and options for collecting $2600 in TX
My small business did a job for a lawyer in two parts. First we cabled a 1800's house and were paid for it. Next the client/lawyer asked us to create a secure internet network for this office. We agreed at $70 per hour at their location verbally three times. 3/4s of the way through the job the ADHD secretary goes off when we started work on her computer. It turns out the secretary caused the problem so I visited with the lawyer before any more work was started and she quickly fired us. It has been 5 months and the lawyer is not paying. I believe this lawyer is wanting us to bring this to court because this lawyer was an ex county assistant proscutor and uses connections to get favorable outcomes. How do I proceed with this to collect for my work?

All you or anybody else can do is try. You might try to find a lawyer who is opposite of the opposing attorney and see if that works. See if you can get a lawyer to take the case on contingency. You won't get all your money, but maybe you will get something out of it.

Send a demand letter by certified mail. Then ten days after the date the lawyer received the letter you can bring an action in Small Claims.
