Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I have a question about credit card collectors. I have a debt that shows closed on my credit report and just yesterday had a call from a lawyers firm that says they are starting to take action on my debt. They said if debt was not paid in full, they will start proceedings??? Exactly what can they do???

They can sue you. If they are successful, then they can execute on the judgment. There are MANY factors that are involved in determining if they can take a judgment. You may want to retain an attorney to review the claim, and if valid, negotiate a settlement. If you are judgment-proof, you may choose to ignore it.
