Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
I've received numerous collections calls from Conn's credit over the course of the past 5 months. Several months ago, I retrieved a message off of my answering machine at my job, and before the pre-recorded "Hi, this is Erica from Conn's and I have an important business matter to discuss..." message began, I could hear a conversation between two employees, one male and one female. The male is using very bad language several times during their conversation. I thought I had deleted the message, but I found out the hard way today that I did not. I was playing some new messages on speaker when my co-worker walked in, and the Conn's message began playing after the new messages. I could not stop the message in time, and she heard the foul language from the Conn's employee. I was embarrased, and now I do not know if she is going to report this to our supervisor or not. What can I do legally against Conn's for allowing this to happen?
Thank you,
Misty

You probably don't have a cause of action against Conn's for what happened.
If I were you, I would call Conn's (at their call-back number they gave you) and play the message for them - over the phone. Then invite them to your church.
Tell them that third parties were accidentally exposed to their profanity. Tell them that you want the president of their company to apologize to you IN WRITING, and until you receive this apology, you won't talk to them about a debt or anything else. Give them your home address where the president can send the letter (even if they already have it). Tell them that this is non-negotiable.
