Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Recently I was contacted by Zwicker & Associates, P.C concerning an alleged outstanding debit. When I explain to the individual on the phone that I did indeed at one time have a PayPal account I had closed that account two years earlier due to suspicious activity. Not only did I close that I account, I also took the time to change the account number at the bank that was being used to withdraw the money. Give these issues I closed that account.
Zwicker & Associates, P.C. is claiming that I had a PayPal credit account that this debit is mine. I informed the individual on the phone that I would be submitting my position and requests via written correspondence. I expressed to them that I would no longer be communicating with them via the phone. I took the time to put together a letter stating my position and that I would like to see proof of this account being mine. I cited the Fair Credit Reporting Act as my reference in requesting this documentation.
Upon receiving my letter their response was less then detailed. It basically said this is your balance. You need to pay this amount immediately. Nowhere in their return letter did they show any proof that it was in fact my signature that signed up for said PayPal credit account. Given this company's reputation what is my recommended next step in dealing with their strong arm techniques?
Thank you.

Ignore them. If they call you again, hang up on them. If they write you a letter, keep it, and put it in a special folder.
You don't need to take any action at all until they sue you.
